The Tutor

George ‘Gev' Barrett

Gev Barrett has been teaching drums for over 10 years, and is a full time professional drummer based in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. He currently teaches out of his own school based in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary and out of Rockwell Music Academy. He currently drums with rock band Crow Black Chicken. Gev has recorded on 7 albums and multiple EP’s, touring extensively in the UK and Europe, most notably opening up for ZZ Top live at Marquee in Cork and performing on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury. Gev has worked with and shared the stage with many legends over the years including artists like, ZZ Top, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Philip Donnelly ( Nancy Griffith, Everly Brothers ) to name a few and working with producers like Philip Magee ( Kodaline , Aslan, The Script ) George Reiff ( Tedeschi Trucks Band ).

The Lessons

The lessons are one to one and allow the student to progress at their own pace. The lesson plan can be adapted to help each student progress in their preferred field of drumming, from rudimental drumming, to styles like Rock, Jazz and Latin. Grades are also available for students who want to earn an official accreditation.

The Studio

Based in Mulcahy House Clonmel the studio offers the space and drums to be creative and to remain socially distanced.
